In the beginning stages of Iowa Running Company, one of our visions was to have a large mural on the wall encompassing the running community we cherished and hoped to foster. With a bit of dumb luck, we were introduced to this cool, talented cat, Jake, a tattoo artist looking to extend his creativity. We shared our vision with him, and he took it from there, and it was remarkable watching Jake not only bring his first mural to life but also our shop.
Fast forward six years later, when conversations around a remodel surfaced, one of the goals was to preserve the mural on the wall. Unfortunately, no matter how many different ways we looked at it, there was no way around it. The mural had to go. However, we had an idea! With hopes of paying homage to the artist, we brought the image back to life and had the mural digitally recreated. Although the mural is no longer, our desire to foster and build upon this running community is stronger than ever, and it's safe to say the mural can now live on "a-head."
